Some of you may not agree with what I have to say, but I've been around long enough to know my facts and also to know that many times doctors and scientists are wrong. And in the case of steroids ... I feel they are VERY wrong!
Congress wants to lock up Bonds and throw away the key. Not because he used steroids, but because HE LIED IN CONGRESS UNDER OATH!! A lot of other ball players broke the law and used illegal substances, but they owned up to it, so they are not going to be crucified for it!

Should this man have been suspended for 100 games and forced to retire? |

This is just BASEBALL! Let's not forget about these other incidents: Doping in the Tour DeFrance numerous times, swimmers, shot putters, and track stars. Heck, even a cross-country ski team in the winter Olympics was banned for doping. The whole entire TEAM! Now there is talk about golf, tennis, and any sport that requires hand-eye coordination, being added to the list of sports that have doping in them. But I don't see ONE SINGLE athlete dying of ANY SIDE EFFECTS from all this "doping"! So ... what gives? Where is all the DANGER in these so called DANGEROUS DRUGS?
The other night I was watching a commercial for a drug called CELEBREX. The commercial spent more time listing side effects and what to do if you have a side effect than actually telling you how the drug could help or even what it's for. Eighty percent of the commercial was side effects ... one of which was ... wait for it ... DEATH!!!
This is from the actual CELEBREX site:
CELEBREX is indicated for the relief of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis, and for the management of acute pain in adults.
Important Safety Information:
Like all prescription NSAIDs, CELEBREX may increase the chance of heart attack or stroke that can lead to death. This chance increases if you have heart disease or risk factors for it, such as high blood pressure or when NSAIDs are taken for long periods.
CELEBREX should not be used right before or after certain heart surgeries.
Serious skin reactions, or stomach and intestine problems such as bleeding and ulcers, can occur without warning and may cause death. Patients taking aspirin and the elderly are at increased risk for stomach bleeding and ulcers.
The ONLY commercial I've seen so far about a prescription drug with NO SIDE EFFECTS listed in the whole commercial was TESTOSTERONE! Yup, that's right: the LOW-T commercial. Hmmm ... testosterone, which is an ILLEGAL ANABOLIC STEROID because it is so bad for you can now be prescribed for health reasons, yet it's still illegal because 20 years from now my prostate may get swollen? What? Ok, so I'll go out, drink, then drive home while smoking a pack of ciagaretts (which are a KNOWN CARCINOGEN), after taking my Celebrex (which may kill me), and a few Tylenol (which may shut my liver down), but if I want to look and feel better, I need to go through all kinds of tests and jump through hoops for a script of TEST?

Is this the evil drug that has less side effects than almost every other drug we see advertised on T.V.? |
Still not convinced? How about all the smokers? When they're stressed out at work, they go outside to have a smoke and the nicotine relaxes them. Then they come in and can be productive again. Still not convinced? How about all the XANAX prescriptions, anti-depressants, and modafinil, which is a prescription stimulant with an amphetamine like effect (yes, like the METH you always hear about that's so bad)?
This is from the Modafinil site:
"Before taking modafinil,
* tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to modafinil, armodafinil (Nuvigil), or any other medications.
* tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. Be sure to mention any of the following: anticoagulants ('blood thinners') such as warfarin (Coumadin); certain antidepressants such as amitriptyline, amoxapine, clomipramine (Anafranil), desipramine (Norpramin), doxepin (Sinequan), imipramine (Tofranil), nortriptyline (Aventyl, Pamelor), protriptyline (Vivactil), and trimipramine (Surmontil); certain antifungals such as itraconazole (Sporanox) and ketoconazole (Nizoral); cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune); diazepam (Valium); certain medications for seizures such as carbamazepine (Tegretol), phenobarbital, and phenytoin (Dilantin); monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors, including isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam, Zelapar), and tranylcypromine (Parnate); propranolol (Inderal); selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as citalopram (Celexa), escitalopram (Lexapro), fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem), fluvoxamine (Luvox), paroxetine (Paxil), and sertraline (Zoloft); rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane); and triazolam (Halcion). Many other medications may also interact with modafinil, so be sure to tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking, even those that do not appear on this list. Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully for side effects."
These are a lot of things to be careful of. Vitamins ... you cant take vitamins? What about the food you eat?
"* tell your doctor if you drink or have ever drunk large amounts of alcohol, use or have ever used street drugs, or have overused prescription medications, especially stimulants. Also tell your doctor if you have ever had chest pain, an irregular heartbeat, or other heart problems after taking a stimulant, and if you have or have ever had high blood pressure; a heart attack; chest pain; a mental illness such as depression, mania (frenzied, abnormally excited mood), or psychosis (difficulty thinking clearly, communicating, understanding reality, and behaving appropriately); or heart, liver, or kidney disease.
* you should know that modafinil may decrease the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives (birth control pills, patches, rings, implants, injections, and intrauterine devices). Use another form of birth control while taking modafinil and for 1 month after you stop taking it. Talk to your doctor about types of birth control that will work for you during and after your treatment with modafinil.
*tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking modafinil, call your doctor.
* if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking modafinil.
* you should know that modafinil may affect your judgment or thinking and may not completely relieve the sleepiness caused by your disorder. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you. If you avoided driving and other dangerous activities because of your sleep disorder, do not start performing these activities again without talking to your doctor even if you feel more alert."
But who really cares? Drink coffee, smoke, and take your Xanax - it's YOUR LIFE. But don't judge Bonds for doing the same thing!
I know a surgical nurse who is in surgery with surgeons for up to 8 hours at a time with no food break, no water, and no bathroom break. You know what? If I'm the one on that operating table, I want that surgeon to take whatever the heck he wants in order to stay alert during the surgery. I want him to do the surgery not only to the best of his abilities, but beyond! ENHANCE his performance. PLEASE!!!
Did you know our fighter pilots use amphetamine pills in the fighters? Yup, and why not? I want these guys who are defending our county not only at their peak, but beyond. These drugs keep them focused and alert, yet the pills are deemed DANGEROUS to one's health.
I think everyone should check out the movie BIGGER, STRONGER, FASTER. It may be an eye-opener to see how things really are.
Interesting, huh? Guys like this are in charge of our country? If you went to a doctor and he answered questions like this, would you let him operate on you? No, but we let them run our country?
This is one interesting video. I hope you took the time to watch. Did it make you think a little bit?
Most pro and Olympic athletes dope. I hate to break it to you, but the heroes you see on TV are on DRUGS! Why shouldn't they be? I want to see someone do something great, not something I can do myself or see at a high school level game!
And for the money they make, why not? Would you take steroids to make 8 million dollars a season, secure a financial future for your family and all while doing something you love and have been doing since you were a child? No? Ok, let me get this straight. You will drink booze of various kinds, smoke, take Tylenol, and all the drugs the doctors give you (which have all been proven to be harmful in some way)? Everything I just listed has proven side effects, some which include death, yet you will do all this for no money, no advancement on a job? You'll do it just because someone said it's ok, but you wouldn't take a steroid that in over 70 years has not produced one single study on a healthy adult that shows ANY HARM comes from this drug, because someone said it's harmful? Who said it's harmful?
DO the research yourself - it's all out there. See how much you have been harming yourselves and the ones you love, and see how Bonds did NOT harm himself like you. But he lied, so it's off to jail!
I do not condone illegal drug use of any kind. I do condone being educated, doing the research yourself to make an EDUCATED decision. I do condone not listening to a doctor just because he says so or listening to the drug company who produces so many harmful things.
I hope that if you only get one thing from this whole blog, it's to think for yourself and don't be led to making decisions. Enjoy life and do what YOU want to do, not what you have been programed to do. Ask questions. Question everything until you feel right about it. As with most things out there, many things are not as they seem. Don't break any laws - that's not what this is about! But don't think these athletes are any different than you or me with our coffee in hand!
