One of the things that gets overlooked the most in the fitness industry, health-wise, is the immune system.
All of these workout programs and diets focus on weight loss, weight gain, and looking good on the beach. But they don't take your immune system into account. If you can't get to the gym or eat your meals because you are sick then you not only don't make progress, you feel awful because YOU'RE SICK! Make sense?
Rule number one: take care of your immune system! Easy, right? Here is how:
- Get enough rest! I know - easier said than done.
- Take a multi vitamin every day! No matter how healthy we try to eat, we just don't get the nutrients we need from food. You need to supplement to make sure all the bases are covered.
- Take L-Glutamine every day. It is the single most abundant amino in the body. If you have low glutamine levels, your immune system is lowered! Five grams a day is a good start. This is such an over-looked part of staying healthy.
- Wash your hands frequently, with regular soap. Try not to use hand sanitizers and anti-bacterial soaps too much. Your body needs to be able to fight germs and these keep your body's guard down, allowing certain germs to actually fight and beat your immune system down.
Following these four simple things will help keep you healthy, in the gym, progressing toward your fitness goals, and feeling good. Besides, who likes to be sick? I don't get flu shots, very rarely take antibiotics unless I have bronchitis or pneumonia, and I rarely get sick. How? I follow these four simple steps.
