Pride And Fitness Goals!

About a week ago, for the first time, I hired a trainer to take care of my diet and my training. Other trainers at my gym and my clients asked why I would hire someone if I'm a trainer and I'm so good with diets.

This year, I did my own diet and training for the Maryland Championships. It was a very hard road for the simple fact that emotions are involved during prep. When taking care of my clients, I can objectively look at them without emotion and know what to do. Looking at myself, being the emotional person that I am, I cannot do the same. I always question myself like most clients question their trainer. But the difference is that I have to answer my own questions. Not an easy thing to do.

Even the best bodybuilder in the WORLD has a trainer,  Hany (trainer) and Jay Cutler, Mr. Olympia.
What ends up happening when I do my own prep is I give 100% to my clients, but I am unable to give 100% to myself. There are questions I have to answer myself and I see myself differently in the same situations. It's kind of like how doctors have to have their own doctors. They can't treat everything themselves, nor can they write prescriptions for themselves simply because of the emotions and personal nature of the situation.

It's the same with training. I don't want the responsibility of doing my own diet and training. By hiring my own trainer, I can focus on the people I train and help them reach their goals. When I come home at the end of the day, I don't have to then start working on my own goals and training. I can just sit back and decompress and start again fresh the next day.

I had to swallow my pride as a professional trainer when I hired someone to train me. At first, I felt like I failed to juggle my own training, but then I quickly realized that in order to reach MY goals, I needed that support and direction from someone objective. My trainer will help me get me to the next level AND my clients will benefit from having a fresh 100% ME at their disposal!

So the next time you bite off more than you can chew at one time, but are to proud to ask for help, take a deep breath and reassess the situation. Getting a little help may be just the thing you need. It will benefit not just YOU but EVERYONE around you!
